What is Oil Pulling?
Oil pulling is swishing oils around your mouth. A practice that started in India, oil pulling can improve oral health by removing unwanted bacterial.
Getting Started
1. Pick your favorite oil; you can use coconut, sesame or olive.
2. Take a tablespoon of the oil and pour it in your mouth. Swish for at least five minutes, but up to 30 minutes, which is the recommendation. You may have to work up to 30 minutes —that’s a whole lot of swishing. But, the most important thing is not to swallow, because the oil can contain toxins and bacteria from your mouth, and you don’t want that going into your stomach.
3. When the time is up, spit the oil out and rinse with water.
4. Finish by brushing your teeth.
